Organizers are demanding an end to austerity measures, which they say hinder economic growth and cause unnecessary hardships. Airlines across the continent have been cancelling and rescheduling flights. (TravelMole.com, Nov. 13)
VOLUNTEER TO SPREAD THE GOOD WORD ABOUT GREECE
Tourism has suffered greatly in Greece due to bad publicity surrounding the economic turmoil. The tourist office and major Greek businesses have developed an online interactive platform for visitors to share their travel experiences. TrueGreece.org will be a social media outlet where dedicated volunteers will hopefully counteract concerns about the economy and political unrest and spread the word on what a great place Greece is to visit. GREECE ATTRACTS THE BRITISH
Despite the economic challenges for Greeks living in Greece, Brits have booked holiday travel to the country in record numbers due to the rising value of the British pound against the euro. Tour operators have slashed prices for all inclusive packages as well, making Greece an even more attractive destination. Twice the average number of Brits will partake in a Greek holiday, this summer. (Eturbonews.com, May 27)
