AIR CANADA WORKERS COULD STRIKE
Air Canada has been notified by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers of intent to strike on Monday, March 12 after the carrier rejected a unanimous agreement recommended by the union. The IAMAW represents nearly 8600 baggage handlers, cargo agents and mechanics and would cause considerable inconvenience staging a strike during Spring Break. Airline representatives appear optimistic that there is still time to work out a mutually beneficial contract. To avoid long waits for a live representative, ticketed passengers are cautioned to check the Air Canada website for flight status and check-in via self-service options available online.
