OMEGA WORLD TRAVEL CELEBRATES THE NATIONAL TRAVEL & TOURISM WEEK WITH THE SECOND ‘TRAVELGANZA!’

Fairfax, Va. – May 13, 2009 - Omega World Travel’s TravelGanza! kicked off the National Travel & Tourism week which works to enhance the country's economy and recognize the cultural and social benefits created by travel and tourism. TravelGanza!, an annual travel and community showcase held May 9, 2009 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center at National Harbor featured more than 60 exhibitors representing airlines, cruise lines, hotels, embassies and tour companies as well as local attractions.

“According to the U.S. Travel Association, travel industry generates $110 billion in tax revenue for local, state and federal governments and is one of the largest employers with 7.5 million direct travel-generated jobs” said Gloria Bohan, president & CEO of Omega World Travel. “TravelGanza! operates to support and promote local attractions, cruises, and travel and tourism organizations throughout the world.”

As part of the show, TravelGanza! hosts a silent auction with all proceeds benefiting local charities including the Fisher House Foundation, an organization that provides comfort homes for families of wounded soldiers receiving medical treatment. At the event, TravelGanza! generated nearly $30,000 to benefit charitable programs.
Hundreds of visitors had the opportunity to interact with travel experts, learn about new trends in travel, explore new destinations or book the trip of a lifetime right on the spot. Festivities included plenty of giveaways, entertainment and travel seminars.

“Through the collaboration of Omega’s travel partners and our knowledgeable travel experts, TravelGanza! offers irresistible travel deals and big adventures for the wallet-conscious consumer,” said Bohan. “Right now there are so many great travel bargains both domestically and internationally, but you need to know where to look. Omega can help customize a perfect package for any traveler.”

Omega World Travel opened its first office in Fredericksburg, Va., over 36 years ago. Since then, the company has grown to be the largest woman-owned business in the Washington area with offices across the U.S. and in key global markets.
